We are finally caught up after all the snow days with the completion of Larger-than-Life Lara and the expository writing tests. Next up is an introduction to SMART Goals and the kickoff to argumentative writing.
I encourage you to ask your child about SMART Goals and what he or she is considering setting for their goal. On Monday, students will work towards setting SMART Goals and making progress on their goals for about the next 8 weeks. Goals are set based on student interest and motivation; students last year set goals to earn the next belt in Taekwondo, learning phrases in a new language, learning how to play a new song in a saxophone, and more. Students will share their progress over the next 8 weeks with a final presentation at the end of the school year. I look forward to hearing what this year's students come up with.
The following is an outlook for March 16-20:
Monday- SMART Goal Setting
Tuesday- Introduction to Argumentative Writing
Wednesday- Argumentative Note-taking/Practice
Thursday- Argumentative Note-taking/Practice
Friday- MAP Reading Test and RWW: The Statue of Liberty Due
New RWW and Vocab passed out Monday.
Have a great weekend!
